Timely Funding Crucial for Nigeria's War on Insurgency

Philip Agbese, the deputy spokesperson for the House of Representatives, stated that timely funding is crucial for winning the war against insurgency in Nigeria. Speaking to journalists, Agbese commended the leadership of Chief of Defence Staff Waidi Shaibu for addressing security challenges across the country.

He noted that the Armed Forces have shown courage and resilience in the face of evolving threats, with recent operations reflecting a renewed strategy under the current military leadership. Agbese highlighted the importance of intelligence-driven operations and stronger synergy among different arms of the military.

He pointed out that while there have been notable successes in degrading insurgent capabilities and reclaiming territories, sustained gains depend on the efficient availability of financial resources. Agbese urged the government to prioritize defense funding, describing it as an investment in national stability rather than a routine budgetary obligation.

He emphasized the need for public support and collaboration among military and security agencies to address the root causes of insecurity in Nigeria.
