Agbes Backs Oyedele to Resolve 2025 Budget Delays

Philip Agbes, the Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, expressed confidence in the newly appointed Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, to address delays affecting the execution of the 2025 capital projects. Speaking to newsmen on Tuesday, Agbes noted that Oyedele's appointment by President Bola Tinubu signals a deliberate move to restore discipline and efficiency in Nigeria's budgetary process.

He described Oyedele as a seasoned fiscal policy expert with a strong track record in tax reform and public finance advisory, placing him in a strong position to tackle structural inefficiencies that have historically slowed budget implementation. Agbes highlighted Oyedele's previous leadership of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform Committee, which designed frameworks aimed at improving revenue generation and aligning fiscal policy with national development goals.

He emphasized the need for efficient budgetary allocation and deployment of capital projects to reflect tangible impacts across various sectors, expressing optimism about the ongoing reforms within the finance ministry.
