Agbes Mobilizes Support for Operation Savannah Shield

Philip Agbes, the Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, is actively mobilizing public support for Operation Savannah Shield, a multi-agency security initiative launched by the federal government on Thursday. The operation aims to combat the increasing insecurity in Kwara State and its neighboring Niger State.

The official flag-off took place at Sobi Barracks in Ilorin, attended by Kwara Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Chief of Defence Staff Lt. Gen.

Olufemi Oluyede, and Chief of Army Staff Gen. Waidi Shaibu.

Agbes emphasized the critical need for citizen action to defeat terrorism across the country, highlighting the operation's proactive approach to dismantling terrorist networks. He noted the rise in attacks that have displaced hundreds in the North Central region, including Kwara, Benue, Kogi, Niger, Plateau, and Nasarawa states.

Agbes announced a public advocacy campaign to galvanize nationwide support for the armed forces, urging citizens to collaborate with security agencies to enhance intelligence sharing and combat terrorism effectively.
