Reps Committee Concludes Probe into NNRA Promotion Dispute

The House of Representatives committee on public petitions concluded its investigation into a promotion dispute involving Dr. Yau Idris, the Director General of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA), and Mr.

Abdulhadi Abdullahi, a deputy director. Abdullahi accused the NNRA management of unlawfully denying him a promotion to the rank of director despite meeting statutory requirements.

The committee, chaired by Kwamoti La Ori, announced the closure of hearings on Thursday, stating it would prepare a final report with findings and recommendations. Abdullahi expressed confidence in the committee's handling of the matter, believing that lawmakers would arrive at a fair decision based on the documentary evidence presented.

His ordeal began in 2011 when he first became eligible for promotion. Despite interventions from the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, the NNRA management failed to implement recommendations for his direct promotion.

The committee's report will be submitted to the House for consideration regarding possible legislative action against the NNRA leadership.
