REA MD Summoned by House Committee for Hearing Absence

The House of Representatives committee has issued a summons for the Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to appear in person on Tuesday, March 2, 2026. This summons follows the official's absence from an ongoing investigative hearing in Abuja.

The chairman of the committee, Hon. Afam Ogen, directed that the agency submit a comprehensive written response to the issues raised by the committee within 48 hours.

He emphasized that the conduct of the REA's Managing Director was highly disrespectful and warned that such behavior would no longer be tolerated. The committee's actions are in line with sections 88 and 89 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which empower lawmakers to hold public officials accountable.
