House of Representatives Seeks Tinubu's Intervention Over Bandit Attacks in Gombe State

The House of Representatives has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently enhance security in Gombe State due to recent deadly bandit attacks. The motion, raised by Chief Whip Bello Kumo during Wednesday's plenary session, highlighted attacks in Garin Galadima, Pindiga, Garin Jaji, and Laro communities in Akko Local Government Area.

The attacks resulted in six deaths, 20 abductions, and widespread destruction, displacing citizens and causing fear and uncertainty. Lawmakers emphasized the need for security agencies to intensify efforts to protect lives and property, in line with the Nigerian Constitution.

The House urged Tinubu to direct the Chief of Defence Staff to coordinate joint security operations, provide aerial surveillance, and flush out bandits to prevent further incidents. Additionally, the House mandated the deployment of more police forces to maintain law and order in the affected area and requested immediate relief materials for victims.

Weekly reports on security developments were also requested until the situation is under control.
