Repton CEO Advocates Digital Skills at Lagos Career Fair

At the Lagos Career Fair, Otunba Odeyeyiwa Kazeem Olayemi, the Group Managing Director and CEO of Repton Group, stressed the necessity of acquiring technological skills, especially in artificial intelligence, for career advancement in today's digital age. Speaking on the theme "Build to Win: Career in Today's Technology-Driven Global Economy," he noted that nearly 90% of jobs will require digital skills by 2030, according to research.

Olayemi discussed how AI and digital platforms are transforming industries, shifting job roles from routine tasks to those requiring human-AI collaboration. He urged individuals to proactively adapt to technological changes and develop a T-shaped career profile, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and mastering high-impact skills.

Olayemi also pointed out that while AI can enhance productivity, it poses a threat to manual and repetitive jobs, necessitating a shift in how workers view AI as a collaborator rather than a competitor. He highlighted the critical role of soft skills, such as emotional intelligence and creativity, in complementing technical skills in the evolving job market.
