Nigerian Resident Doctors Suspend 29-Day Strike After Reaching Agreement with FG

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) in Nigeria has suspended their 29-day strike following negotiations with the Federal Government. The strike, which began on November 1, 2025, disrupted healthcare services as 11,000 resident doctors across 91 teaching hospitals withdrew their services.

The suspension came after the signing of a memorandum of understanding based on seven key conditions set by NARD, including the reinstatement of a doctor in Lokoja, release of professionals, salary and promotion arrears payments, and other demands. NARD warned of resuming the strike if the remaining demands are not met within the agreed timeframe.
