Nigerian Resident Doctors to Begin Indefinite Strike on November 1, 2025

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced plans to start an indefinite nationwide strike on November 1, 2025, following a decision made during a five-hour meeting of the association's National Executive Council. The strike action comes after the expiration of a 30-day ultimatum issued to the Federal Government over unmet demands, including a 200 percent increase in salaries, full implementation of a new salary structure, immediate recruitment of clinical staff, and the removal of obstacles hindering the replacement of exiting doctors.

NARD President, Dr. Mohammad Suleiman, accused both internal and external actors of plotting against doctors and urged residents to properly hand over patients before the strike.
