Nigerian Resident Doctors Suspend Strike to Allow Government Health Sector Resolution

Nigerian resident doctors, members of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), have decided to suspend their industrial action for two weeks starting January 12. This move aims to give the government an opportunity to address various issues in the health sector, such as salary arrears, promotions, specialist allowances, and working conditions.

The suspension comes amidst ongoing challenges in the healthcare system, including a two-month strike by the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU). The government is urged to engage with healthcare workers to find lasting solutions without causing further hardships to patients.
