Residents Flee Benue Community Amid Herdsmen Attacks

Residents of Edikwu Ukpogo in the Apa Local Government Area of Benue State have fled their homes following a series of attacks allegedly carried out by suspected herdsmen. The attacks have caused significant displacement, with families abandoning their properties and farmland, which has raised fresh concerns regarding security and humanitarian conditions in the state.

The recurring clashes between farming communities and armed groups have led to loss of lives and disruption of agricultural activities, exacerbating food security and economic stability in the area. Local political leader, Hon. Adol Jose Ehoda, has described the situation as a humanitarian crisis and has called for urgent intervention from government security agencies to restore safety, protect lives and properties, and provide relief materials to the displaced residents.

Observations from the community indicate growing frustration over the lack of adequate protection, raising questions about how long they will remain vulnerable without proper security measures.
