On Saturday, residents of Imafon, Igushin, and Ilado in Akure North Local Council Area, Ondo State, protested against the increasing insecurity in their communities. The protest, which took place near the popular Shoprite junction, was sparked by the recent killings and kidnappings, including the brutal murder of a mother and daughter just two days prior. Protesters expressed their frustration over the government's lack of effective security measures, chanting solidarity songs and causing heavy traffic for several hours. Kunle, a protester, lamented that gunmen operate freely in the area, while John called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to take action. Residents reported daily kidnappings and expressed fear for their safety, with some already relocating. The Ondo State Police Command, represented by DSP Abayomi Jimoh, condemned the violence and assured the public of ongoing efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and enhance security measures.
