Retired Nigerian Army Spokesman Confirms Coup Suspects to Face Court-Martial

Brigadier General (Rtd) Kukasheka Usman, a former Director of Army Public Relations in the Nigerian Army, announced that individuals involved in the alleged coup attempt will be tried in a court-martial. Usman stressed the seriousness of the offense and the need for compliance with military and civilian legal procedures.

He highlighted the military's transformation process from 2000 to 2015, focusing on improving doctrine and civil-military relations. Usman clarified that military personnel accused of serious offenses cannot be tried in civilian courts but will face a court-martial under Section 114 of the Armed Forces Act.
