Retired Police Officers in Katsina to Protest Pension Issues

Retired police officers in Katsina have announced their participation in a pension protest scheduled to take place in Abuja. This decision was communicated through a statement issued by the Police Retired Officers Association, with spokesperson Shehu Suleiman detailing the resolution made during a general meeting led by chairman DSP Kabir Bawa (rtd).

The meeting focused on the challenges faced by retired officers across the country, particularly concerning the police pension scheme. Suleiman emphasized that the protest aims to urge President Bola Tinubu to assent to a bill that has already passed the Senate, which seeks to address the pension issues affecting retirees.

The association highlighted that delays in presidential approval are worsening the living conditions of its members. Key demands include the removal of contributions to the pension scheme for police retirees and alignment with military and intelligence services.

The association also plans to embark on a sensitization campaign to educate serving officers about the long-term implications of current policies.
