Tinubu Urges Diaspora Health Workers to Return Home

On Friday, President Bola Tinubu appealed to Nigerian medical professionals practicing abroad to return home and contribute to national development. This appeal was made during a meeting at the State House with members of the Nigerian Diaspora Medical Associations, led by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Director-General of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).

The meeting coincided with the upcoming National Diaspora Day Celebration 2026, scheduled for July 24–25 at the State House Conference Centre. Tinubu shared his personal experience of returning to Nigeria after studying and working in the United States, stating, “I’ve been through that journey.

I’m home, and I can tell you, there’s nowhere like home.” He encouraged the medical professionals to convince their colleagues to return, assuring them that his administration would foster an enabling environment for their practice. Tinubu reiterated his commitment to fighting poverty and improving living standards in Nigeria, directing Abike Dabiri-Erewa to prepare personalized letters of appreciation for the delegation and commending Dr.

Iziaq Salako for his efforts in advancing the healthcare agenda.
