Tinubu Declares Nigeria Home Amid Civil Forfeiture Scrutiny

On Friday, President Bola Tinubu expressed that there is no place like Nigeria, despite his extensive training and professional experience in the United States. Speaking during a meeting with the Nigerian Diaspora Medical Association, he reflected on his early career, highlighting his time at Deloitte & Touche and the Standard Oil Building in Chicago.

His comments coincided with renewed scrutiny of his civil forfeiture case from 1993, following a push by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar's camp for further examination of the matter. Atiku's Special Adviser on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, urged the government to release evidence regarding the case instead of engaging in public disputes.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga criticized Atiku for allegedly spending $1.2 million on American lobbyists to revive a case he claimed was resolved over 30 years ago, asserting that Nigeria is a sovereign nation and should not be reported to foreign leaders.
