Tinubu Praised for Successful Evacuation of Nigerians

President Tinubu has received commendations for fully funding the evacuation of 1,490 stranded Nigerians from South Africa, which took place from June 11 to July 15. Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), expressed gratitude for the support from various state governments and organizations.

She highlighted contributions from Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and Edo State Governor Mondai Okpebholo, who pledged 1 million naira each to assist returnees. The NIDCOM also acknowledged support from Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere of Omega Power Ministries, who provided accommodation for 57 returnee families and skill acquisition opportunities.

MTN Nigeria contributed SIM packs worth 50,000 naira in data and 100,000 naira in cash support. Other contributors included Jaal Foundation, Harvest Church, and Cruxston Real Estate, which provided food baskets.

Dabiri-Erewa urged state governments to continue supporting returnees as they rebuild their lives.
