JRB and Police Unite to Tackle Illegal Tax Collections

The Joint Revenue Board (JRB) and the Nigerian Police Force have announced a strategic partnership to combat illegal tax collections throughout Nigeria. Executing Secretary Segun Adesokan emphasized the board's mandate to ensure uniform, transparent, and efficient revenue administration.

This initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu's ongoing tax reforms aimed at promoting fair economic growth. Key highlights include a ban on unauthorized tax stickers and roadblocks for tax collection, as stated in a communiqué issued during the JRB's 158th meeting in December 2023.

The partnership proposes the establishment of a national task force to work closely with revenue authorities to identify and dismantle illegal tax operations. Inspector General of Police Moham Abdul Suleiman welcomed the initiative, reaffirming the police's commitment to support the JRB.

The collaboration aims to address the root causes of illegal tax collection, which significantly increases costs for citizens and businesses.
