Rivers State Approves Recruitment of 5,000 Civil Servants to Enhance Public Service Delivery

The Rivers State Executive Council, led by President Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the recruitment of 5,000 new civil servants during its second council meeting in 2026. The decision, attended by Deputy Prof.

Ngozi Odu and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communication Dr. Honor Sirawoo, aims to strengthen service delivery, especially in the education sector.

Of the 5,000 recruits, 300 will serve at the basic primary school level, 2,000 at the post-primary school level, and others in various sectors like education, healthcare, and basic university education. Dr.

Sirawoo emphasized the recruitment process will prioritize merit to ensure qualified individuals are employed. Dr.

Chisom Kenneth Gbali welcomed the decision as a major boost for the ministry.
