Court Upholds Ruling Nullifying APC Congresses in Rivers

The Court of Appeal has upheld a High Court ruling that nullified the All Progressives Congress (APC) congresses in Rivers State. The ruling confirmed that the High Court had jurisdiction over the matter, which was initiated by Toni Okocha, who leads the exco loyal to the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.

The High Court had previously issued an order barring the APC from conducting its congresses in the state. Okocha filed an appeal against this order, but the Court of Appeal, presided over by Justice Elfreida William Dawodu, affirmed the High Court's jurisdiction and its decision.

Meanwhile, Ikenga Chibik assured party members that there is no threat to the status of the exco pending a full trial of the matter, and the party's lawyers will review the full judgment to advise on the next steps.
