Ann Kio Briggs Warns Tinubu on Rivers State Politics

Ann Kio Briggs, an environmental and human rights activist from Rivers State, issued a warning to President Bola Tinubu regarding the political situation in Rivers State. She expressed concerns following the announcement by Governor Sim Fubara that he would no longer contest the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.

Although Fubara described this decision as difficult, he pledged to support whoever emerges as the APC candidate for the upcoming governorship election. Activist Briggs cautioned that allowing former Minister Nyesom Wike to act with unchecked authority in Rivers State would not serve the best interests of the people.

She emphasized that the residents of Rivers State should have the autonomy to choose their leaders and that the current political confusion within the APC could lead to detrimental outcomes for the state. Briggs's remarks highlight the tension and uncertainty surrounding the political landscape in Rivers State as the elections approach.
