Rivers Governor Fubara Criticized Over Political Violence

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is under fire from the Rivers Liber Movement (RLM) for his silence following an attack on former Minister of Transport Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. The incident occurred last Friday along the Omuanwa-Ubima road when gunmen, believed to be political thugs, fired shots at Amaechi's convoy as he traveled to Ubima for a formal registration event with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Although there were no confirmed casualties, the attack created panic among residents. Additionally, the ADC's Ward 8 secretariat in Ubima was reportedly set ablaze by suspected arsonists, causing significant damage and escalating political tension in the area.

Dr. Leloonu Nwibubasa of RLM condemned the attack and criticized the lack of a swift response from the state government and the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, emphasizing the need for justice and a thorough investigation to prevent further political violence in Rivers State.
