Rivers State Seals Six Health Facilities Over Trafficking

The Rivers State government has intensified its crackdown on illegal medical practices by sealing six health facilities and arresting seven individuals allegedly involved in child trafficking and employing unqualified personnel. Dr.

Vincent Wachukwu, the Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Health and Chairman of the State Anti-Quackery Committee, disclosed this during a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Tuesday. The facilities shut down were operating without valid licenses and engaged in activities considered dangerous to public health and safety.

The affected facilities include Plariv Hospital, Good Shepherd Hospital in Omoku, Bless Goodnew Clinic on Bonny Street, and El Dona Hospital in Obio Akpor, among others. The Ministry of Health is collaborating with law enforcement agencies to ensure proper prosecution of the arrested individuals.

Dr. Wachukwu commended the police for their support in the investigation and reaffirmed the government's commitment to eliminating illegal medical practices across the 23 local government areas in the state.
