Rivers State Seals Six Health Facilities for Quackery

The Rivers State Ministry of Health, led by Permanent Secretary Dr. Vincent Wachukwu, has sealed six health facilities in Port Harcourt and surrounding areas due to allegations of unprofessional practices and child trafficking.

During the investigation, which is part of a broader anti-quackery initiative, seven individuals were arrested. Dr.

Wachukwu stated that the ministry has made significant progress in combating quackery over the past two years, with numerous arrests and facility closures. The sealed facilities include Plariv Hospital and Good Shepherd Hospital in Omoku, as well as Bless Good New Clinic in Port Harcourt, among others.

The investigation revealed that some facilities were operated by untrained and non-accredited practitioners. A notable case involved a 20-year-old female secondary school graduate who was found working in a patent drug shop in Emohua.

The ministry emphasized the importance of community reporting in identifying unwholesome practices and reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all healthcare providers operate within legal and professional standards.
