RMAFC Confirms No Decision on Oil Wells Reallocation

The Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), chaired by Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, has clarified that there is no finalized decision regarding the cession or reallocation of oil wells.

This clarification comes in response to media reports alleging that an inter-agency committee had recommended the cession of certain assets. Dr.

Shehu stated that the commission recently received a draft report from the inter-agency committee on February 13, 2026, which includes protocols for reviewing technical inputs from relevant statutory stakeholders, including the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the National Boundary Commission (NBC). The commission will conduct a comprehensive technical and legal review of the findings before presenting them in a plenary session for final recommendations.

The RMAFC urges the public and media to disregard any misleading reports until an official communication is made following the statutory review process, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and due process in discharging its mandate in the national interest.
