RMAFC Disowns Claims on Ceding Disputed Oil Wells

The Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has publicly disowned a report claiming that certain disputed crude oil wells would be ceded to specific oil-producing states. The commission, chaired by Shehu, emphasized that no decisions have been taken regarding the allocation of these oil wells.

A statement issued on Sunday clarified that the commission is aware of a purported report allegedly issued by an inter-agency committee verifying the disputed crude oil wells. However, the RMAFC described the report as misleading and urged the public and media to disregard it until an official communication is released following a statutory review process.

The commission noted that it received a draft report from the inter-agency committee on February 13, 2026, and that any recommendations will undergo further scrutiny. The RMAFC reiterated its commitment to transparency and due process in handling the allocation of national resources and called on oil-producing states to cooperate in resolving the disputes over oil wells.
