Road Crashes Result in 1,374 Deaths in Q4 2025

According to the latest report from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), road crashes in Nigeria claimed 1,374 lives in the fourth quarter of 2025. This figure represents a 12.20% increase compared to the 2,434 crashes recorded in the third quarter of 2025.

The report indicates that serious crashes accounted for the largest share, with 1,775 cases, while fatal crashes totaled 677 and minor crashes were at least 279. Gender analysis revealed that males accounted for 1,085 fatalities, representing 78.97% of the total, while females accounted for 289 fatalities, or 21.03%.

Additionally, 6,561 males were injured, making up 75.19% of the total injuries, while 2,165 females were injured, representing 24.81%. The report noted that 4,059 vehicles were involved in road traffic crashes during this period, indicating a 9.41% increase from the 3,710 vehicles recorded in Q3 2025.

The South West region had the highest number of crashes at 763, followed by North Central with 744, and South South with the least at 152. North Central also recorded the highest number of casualties at 2,649.
