FRSC Reports 27% Drop in Road Crashes During Eid 2026

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) announced a 27% reduction in road traffic crashes during the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration compared to the previous year, 2025. The number of crashes decreased from 191 in 2025 to 142 in 2026, with the number of individuals involved dropping from 1,364 to 1,064.

Additionally, there was a 25.4% decrease in injuries, with reported injuries falling from 576 in 2025 to 430 in 2026. Osondu Ohaeri, the Corps Public Education Officer, described these outcomes as evidence of the effectiveness of the FRSC's proactive traffic management strategies, intensified public enlightenment campaigns, and robust enforcement activities.

The FRSC conducted special patrol operations during the celebration, which contributed to these impressive gains, protecting hundreds of lives and families from the devastating consequences of road traffic crashes. Corps Marshal Shehu Moham commended the dedication and resilience of personnel and emphasized the importance of sustained public education and adherence to traffic regulations.
