Rotary Club Enhances Clean Water Access in Lagos

The Rotary Club, through Rotary International District 9111, has initiated a clean water project in the Riverine Community of Lagos, in collaboration with Rotary International District 3750 from South Korea. This project aims to enhance access to safe drinking water and sanitation, particularly benefiting schoolchildren.

During a visit to Lagos on Wednesday, Governor Henri Akinyel highlighted the partnership's evolution, which began with online engagements and has led to significant community impact. The project, executed under the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiative, aims to reduce exposure to unsafe water sources, thereby decreasing health risks.

Akinyel noted that the project not only provides clean water but also contributes to healthier living conditions, allowing children to focus better on their studies. The next phase of the initiative, valued at $38,500, will focus on healthcare projects powered by solar energy, addressing the lack of electricity in the Riverine Community.

The partnership underscores a commitment to sustainable development in underserved communities.
