Rotary District 9111 Awards N10.2 Million in Scholarships

Rotary District 9111 announced the presentation of N10.2 million in scholarships to 51 indigent undergraduate students from various universities and polytechnics in Ogun and Lagos states. The scholarship event is scheduled for June 2, 2026, at the Rotary Centre in Ikeja, Lagos, with Princ Henri Akinyel, the governor of Rotary District 9111, presiding.

Each selected student will receive N200,000 to assist with school fees, feeding allowances, and textbooks for the academic session. Past District Governor Oluwanisomo Omoniyi, speaking on behalf of Akinyel, noted that 50% of the awards will be given to students who maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.0.

The selection process involved screening 62 candidates from 84 clubs within the district, with 15 passing a computer-based aptitude test conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). Ultimately, eight new students qualified for the scholarship, joining 43 others already benefiting from it.

The DEWEF fund was established to support needy students in tertiary institutions.
