Rotary District 9127 Trains Women on Menstrual Hygiene

Rotary District 9127, in collaboration with the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) and the Rotary Club Abuja Harmoni, conducted a training session for 150 women and young girls in Abuja on menstrual hygiene and the use of reusable sanitary pads. This training took place on a Wednesday and was initiated by the immediate past district governor of Rotary District 9127, Mike Ukachi, with sponsorship from Frangranc Oil.

The project is part of a broader public health effort to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene practices and to equip participants with practical skills for economic empowerment. The next phase of the initiative will train an additional 3,000 girls.

The program aims to address period poverty and stigma surrounding menstruation, particularly among vulnerable groups, including widows. The training also included the donation of two sewing machines to POWA to facilitate ongoing skill development.

Future plans include expanding the program to cover menopause awareness and management.
