Russia Allegedly Recruits Africans for Ukraine Conflict

An envoy, Mignot, claimed that Russia is recruiting Africans, particularly men and women from Nigeria, to participate in the ongoing Ukraine war. This assertion was made during a television program marking the fourth anniversary of the conflict.

Mignot suggested that this recruitment is a response to Russia's military personnel shortages, as the country faces increasing pressure in the war. He described the recruitment as a troubling trend, with Russian women reportedly being sent to military plants and men being used as "cannon fodder" on the front lines.

The Nigerian government has acknowledged the phenomenon, although it did not specifically address Russia's involvement. Mignot also refuted the notion that Russia is gaining ground in the conflict, stating that recent weeks have seen Ukraine reclaiming territory.

Russia has denied the allegations of recruiting Africans, labeling them as unfounded, while Mignot referenced testimonies from Africans allegedly recruited for the war.
