Rwanda Receives First Group of Migrants Under US Deportation Deal

Rwanda has received its first group of migrants under a new bilateral arrangement with the United States. The government confirmed the arrival of seven vetted migrants, with three expressing a desire to return to their home country and four wishing to stay and build a life in Rwanda.

This move is part of a wider strategy to relocate deportees to third countries, following a similar approach by former President Donald Trump. Rwanda defended the scheme, citing its historical experience.

The migrants will be accommodated with the help of the International Organization for Migration.
