Sahara Group Launches Recycling Initiative in Nasarawa

On a recent Sunday, Sahara Group Foundation announced the launch of the Sahara Go Recycle initiative in Masaka, Nasarawa State. This initiative aims to establish a recycling hub that will enhance waste management practices in Northern Nigeria.

Chidilim Menakaya, the Commissioner Director of Sahara Group Foundation, stated that this project represents a significant step in expanding access to sustainable waste management solutions across the country. The initiative is designed to convert waste management into economic opportunities, diverting recyclable materials from landfills and improving environmental awareness while creating income opportunities for households.

The hub in Masaka is part of a broader plan to promote sustainable community development and enhance the livelihoods of residents. Ishaku Ibrahim, Director of the Nasarawa State Waste Management Authority, emphasized the importance of this project in addressing waste management challenges and creating economic opportunities for the community.

The initiative aims to process 1,000 tons of recyclable materials and impact 2,000 livelihoods directly and indirectly.
