Samson Adamu Appointed Acting General Secretary of CAF

Samson Adamu was appointed as the acting General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on March 29, 2026, during a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee held at the Giza Palace Hotel in Cairo. His appointment was proposed by CAF President Dr.

Patrick Motsepe and ratified by the Executive Committee. Adamu, who has been passionate about football since he was 15, previously launched a beach soccer tournament in Lagos that attracted top teams globally.

He has a notable history in football administration, having served as the Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and as a director in various capacities, including sports development and organization of major tournaments. Adamu is the first Nigerian and West African to hold this significant position in CAF's 69-year history.

His father, Dr. Amo Adamu, is also recognized for his contributions to sports administration in Nigeria.
