Sanusi and Bayero Suspend Sallah Durbars Over Security Concerns

Sanusi, the Emir of Kano, and Bayero announced the suspension of their planned separate Sallah durbars due to security concerns. They received reports indicating that individuals intended to disrupt the celebrations, which could lead to chaos and a breakdown of law and order in Kano.

The decision was made to preserve peace during the Eid festivities. Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim, speaking on behalf of Sanusi, confirmed the suspension to avoid public unrest.

Similarly, Alhaji Aminu Babba Dan Agundi announced the suspension on behalf of Emir Bayero, complying with police directives to ensure stability in Kano State. The two emirs had previously planned to hold parallel durbars at separate locations, but public concern arose regarding potential clashes.

The ongoing tussle for the emirship, particularly with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's involvement in dethroning Bayero and restoring Sanusi, has heightened tensions. The Supreme Court is set to rule on the matter in April 2027, leaving the situation unresolved until then.
