Kano Emirs Suspend Durbar Processions Over Security Concerns

The Kano State emirs, specifically Emir Aminu Ado Bayero and former Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, have suspended the traditional durbar processions, which were planned to coincide with the Eid celebrations. This decision follows a directive from the Kano State Police Command, which cited security concerns and the need for proactive measures to maintain peace and stability in the state.

The police had reported that there were indications of individuals planning to disrupt the durbar celebrations, prompting the emirs to comply with the directive. The suspension was announced on behalf of Emir Bayero by Alhaji Aminu Babba Dan Agundi, who emphasized the importance of adhering to the police order to ensure public safety.

Similarly, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim, speaking on behalf of Emir Sanusi, acknowledged the need to avoid any potential chaos during the Eid festivities. The suspension of the durbar activities reflects a commitment to preserving law and order in Kano State during this period.
