Emir Bayero to Lead Sallah Horse-Riding in Kano

Emir Aminu Ado Bayero is set to begin the traditional Sallah horse-riding procession in Kano on Thursday. This event, known as the hawan daush, will be overseen by Alhaji Aminu Babba Dan Agundi, the senior councillor at Bayero's palace.

Security agencies have granted permission for the traditional procession, which will take place on Friday. The horse-riding activities will commence from the Nassarawa Emir Palace and will pass through the city center, excluding the main Kano Emir's palace currently occupied by the 16th Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, who has issued a written policy against carrying out such exercises.

The procession is expected to attract a large number of supporters, and measures have been put in place to avoid overcrowding and ensure the event proceeds peacefully. Authorities have warned against any actions that could lead to unrest during the celebrations.
