Saraki Warns PDP Against Ibadan Convention Amid Crises

Bukola Saraki, chair of the PDP reconciliation committee, cautioned the party against proceeding with its convention in Ibadan, scheduled for November 2025. He expressed concerns over unresolved internal disputes and the potential for legal challenges, particularly a court ruling that upheld a lower court's decision to restrain the PDP from conducting the convention due to procedural violations.

Saraki highlighted that the party had not resolved key issues, including incomplete congresses and disagreements over state positions, making the convention premature. He noted that despite pressures, the party had managed to maintain unity, but lingering crises could weaken the PDP ahead of future elections.

Saraki's warning reflects the ongoing internal instability within the party, which has been exacerbated by factional disputes, particularly those loyal to Kabiru Turaki. The situation remains critical as the party grapples with these challenges while preparing for upcoming electoral contests.
