Saraki Warns Against PDP Convention That Worsened Crisis

Bukola Saraki, the former Senate President, disclosed that he had warned against the national convention held by a faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Turaki. This convention took place in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15-16, 2025, and Saraki believes it exacerbated the party's ongoing crisis.

He noted that the PDP's reconciliation committee, which he chaired at the time, had advised against proceeding with the convention due to unresolved internal disputes. Despite these warnings, the faction did not heed the advice, leading to a series of legal battles that further deepened the divisions within the party.

Saraki emphasized that the timing of the convention was ill-advised, as the party was not fully reconciled regarding its internal issues.
