Saraki Calls for PDP Unity After Supreme Court Verdict

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki called for unity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after a Supreme Court judgment that he described as a turning point in resolving the party's leadership crisis. In a statement issued on Saturday by his media officer, Yusuph Olaniyonu, Saraki advised PDP leadership to conduct elections on March 29, 2026, as part of a national convention to rebuild and reconcile the party.

He argued that the court's decision invalidated the earlier position of the party, which had adopted an interim arrangement to avoid prolonged legal disputes. Saraki recalled the consistent communication from party leaders and reiterated the commitment of the elder committee led by Ambassador Hassan Adamu Wakili.

He emphasized the importance of working together across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to stabilize the party and prepare for the 2027 elections, urging aggrieved members to contribute to the party's unity and discipline.
