Saraki Warns of Forces Dividing PDP Ahead of 2027 Elections

Bukola Saraki, the former Senate President, has revealed that both internal conflicts and external interference are significant threats to the unity of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) as it approaches the 2027 elections. He pointed out that clashes of ego and competing interests among party members, along with the influence of rival political actors, exacerbate divisions within the PDP.

Saraki emphasized the complexity of managing opposition parties, noting that the leadership structure of the PDP includes individuals with vast political experience, such as former governors and lawmakers, who bring diverse perspectives. He acknowledged that while disputes may escalate to litigation, such judicial interventions cannot replace the necessity for political dialogue.

Saraki's remarks reflect his commitment to preventing fragmentation within the party and maintaining unity, recalling past crises that have threatened the PDP's cohesion.
