PDP Chieftain Calls for Unity After Supreme Court Ruling

Kefa Ropshik, a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), urged party stakeholders to embrace unity and reconciliation after the Supreme Court's ruling that invalidated the party's leadership structure from the November 15-16, 2025 convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State. Ropshik made this appeal in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, highlighting the heightened tensions following the apex court's decision.

He described the ruling as a defining constitutional moment for the party and warned against misinterpretations of the judgment. Ropshik emphasized the importance of respecting the current leadership recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission and advised members to exercise restraint to avoid actions that could deepen divisions.

He expressed optimism about the PDP's prospects for the 2027 general elections, asserting that the party remains a formidable political force despite recent challenges. The Supreme Court's ruling was a split decision by a five-member panel, affirming an earlier ruling by the Federal High Court that nullified the convention.
