Sarkin Gobir Urges Unity Among Ilorin Leaders Amid Rivalry

Yakubu Gobir, the Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin, made an appeal on Monday for Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate, and Senator Saliu Mustapha, the Turaki of Ilorin, to rise above their political differences. In a statement issued in Ilorin, Gobir called for the preservation of brotherhood, mutual respect, and shared heritage among the people.

He urged supporters of both leaders to avoid personal attacks and inflammatory rhetoric, warning that political disagreements should not lead to lasting divisions. Gobir highlighted his long-standing personal relationships with both men, having known AbdulRazaq for nearly 40 years and Mustapha for about 10 years.

He stressed that both leaders are sons of Ilorin first, regardless of their political affiliations. Gobir emphasized that political competition is a necessary part of democracy, but it should not result in personal hostility.

He encouraged supporters to express loyalty without hatred and to be mindful of the impact of their words on future relationships.
