Saudi Arabia to Revise Electricity and Water Tariffs in 2027

Saudi Arabia announced new electricity and water tariffs that will take effect on 1 January 2027. The Saudi Company and the National Water Company confirmed these changes on their official platforms.
King Salman Bin Abdulaziz approved measures to cushion the financial impact on citizens, guided by a presentation from Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman. These measures include a monthly allowance increase of 500 riyals (approximately ₦180,385) for civilian and military employees on civil service scales, retirees, and surviving family members under the social insurance system.
In the private sector, the salary for Saudi workers under the Nitaqat localisation programme will increase in two stages: to 5,000 riyals after six months and to 6,000 riyals after 12 months. The new electricity pricing structure includes a charge of 21 halalas per kilowatt-hour for residential consumption between 1 and 6,000 kilowatt-hours, and a fixed monthly fee based on circuit breaker capacity.
Water consumption has been restructured into four billing tiers, with the highest tier set at 6 riyals per cubic metre for usage exceeding 45 cubic metres.
