Oyo Extends Curfew in 10 LGAs After School Abduction

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has approved a 24-hour extension of the curfew imposed on 10 local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park. This decision was announced in a memo issued by Musibau Babatunde, the Secretary to the State Government, on Thursday.

The curfew, which was originally set from 4 PM to 8 AM, will now be in effect until Saturday, June 27, 2026. The affected local government areas include Oriir, Ikoyi, Igboho, Irepo, Kisi, Saki West, Saki East, Ago Amodu, Atisbo, Tede, Ago Itesiwaju, Otu, Iseyin, Olorunsogo, Igbeti, Atiba, and Offa Meta.

This extension follows a bandit attack on May 15, 2026, where three schools were targeted, resulting in the death of a teacher and the kidnapping of several schoolchildren. Governor Makinde has reiterated his commitment to ensuring the safe release of the abducted individuals and reuniting them with their families.
