Oyo State Lifts Curfew Amid Ongoing Rescue Operations

The Oyo State Government has lifted a dusk-to-dawn curfew that was initially imposed on ten local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park. This decision follows intensified security operations aimed at rescuing pupils and a teacher who were abducted during an attack on May 15 in Oriire Local Government Area.

The curfew, which was first introduced for 48 hours on June 24, was later extended for an additional 24 hours. Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Information, stated that the government is closely monitoring the security situation and is committed to ensuring the safe return of the abducted individuals.

The affected local government areas include Oriire, Orelop, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo, and Atiba. The government is collaborating with military, police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Amotekun Corps to tackle the kidnapping crisis and enhance security in the region.
