Nigerian Journalists Enhance Science Reporting Skills in UK-Government Sponsored Workshop

Nigerian journalist Isaac Ogugua Ezechukwu emphasizes the importance of science and technology reporting beyond social media trends at a workshop sponsored by the UK government and hosted by the School of Media and Communication at Pan-Atlantic University in Abuja. The workshop, held on January 28-29, 2026, gathered 45 Nigerian journalists and media officials to explore the crucial role of science and technology reporting in translating research outputs, informing policies, guiding investment decisions, and strengthening national growth.

The event featured sessions on relationship management, case discussions, and the impact of science and technology reporting. Notable figures like Dr.

Silk Ogbu, Dr. Ruth Oji, and Mr.

O Seun Ogunseitan were acknowledged for their contributions. Four participants were selected to receive full exposure visits to the United Kingdom in March 2026 to engage with scholars and deepen their expertise in science and technology reporting, showcasing the commitment of the UK government to enhancing the capacity of Nigerian journalists.
