SDP Reaffirms Prof. Sadiq Gomb as National Chairman

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has officially affirmed Prof. Sadiq Gomb as the legitimate national chairman, rejecting any claims that he has been removed from office.

The party's statement, issued from its national secretariat in Araba Aiyenigba, emphasized that there has been no court ruling to remove Gomb. It clarified that the recent court appeal judgment related to a suit filed by Ekiti SDP aspirant Babatunde Fayemi pertains strictly to the Ekiti governorship primary and does not involve the party's leadership.

Alhaji Shehu Gabam, the former chairman, was expelled from the party on March 9, 2026, following a suspension on June 24, 2025, due to gross financial misappropriation. The SDP maintained that Gabam is no longer a member and urged the public to disregard any contrary claims.

The party is focused on strengthening its structure in preparation for the 2027 general elections, distancing itself from internal disputes.
