SDP Confirms Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gomb as National Chairman

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has officially reaffirmed Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gomb as its National Chairman, stating that there has been no court ruling to remove him from this position.

This announcement was made on Thursday from the party's public secretariat by Araba Rufu Aiyenigba, who emphasized the need to counter falsehoods regarding the party's leadership. The party clarified that Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, who attempted to challenge Gomb's leadership, has been expelled due to gross financial misappropriation and misconduct.

Gabam's expulsion was ratified by the National Executive Committee (NEC) on March 9, 2026, following an investigation that found him guilty of financial malfeasance. The SDP also noted that Gabam is no longer a member of the party and that the court lacks jurisdiction over internal party matters.

The party remains committed to stability and integrity under Gomb's leadership.
